ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13
Character evangelism is a situation where your lifestyle preaches to people far more than your words.
It has been confirmed that one potent weapon of soul winning is character evangelism. Character evangelism is a situation where your lifestyle preaches to people far more than your words. Your lifestyle or the way you live has a convicting power. Your presence rebukes sin in the lives of men and convicts people.
Beloved, the question to ask you is, “When was the last time your life convicted someone of sin? When was the last time someone was ready to follow God because of the way you dressed or behaved?”
It was St. Augustine of old who said, “Preach the gospel always and when necessary, use words.” The meaning is, “Let your lifestyle do the preaching.”
Now, the question is, when was the last time your lifestyle preached and people were changed, not because you said anything, but because they watched you?
In Exodus Chapter Two, when Moses rescued the daughters of Jethro from the shepherds who confronted them, and also drew water for their flock, their father asked them when they got home, “Why have you returned so early today?”
They answered, “An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock.” Exodus 2:19.
One important question to ask is, was Moses an Egyptian? No! Then, why did they say that he was an Egyptian? It was because he grew up in the palace of Pharaoh and was dressed in Egyptian styled attire. So, when they saw him, they took him for an Egyptian. There was nothing in Moses to show them that he was a Hebrew. So, your character or dressing shows people who you are.
My counsel is, let your character preach to people more than your words.
