ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile…I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Psalm 32:1-2, 5.

I read the story of a young man who came to see God’s servant Dr Pastor Paul Enenche in his office some years ago. According to him, a politician hired him to kill his opponent. He said he gave the politician a bill of Five Million Naira to execute the job.

The politician first gave him an advance fee of Three Million Naira to do the job, and asked him to come back for the balance after executing “the job.”
So, this hired assassin killed the opponent of the politician, but when he returned for the balance of his two million naira, the politician refused to pay him and even refused to see him again.

Do you know the next thing this hired assassin did?
He went after someone very precious to the politician and wasted the person’s life. Then, he sent a message to the politician and said, “I have started my revenge and you must still pay the balance of my money.”

You see, when the hired assassin set out to execute the plan of killing the politician’s opponent, he never planned to kill other people. Sin creates a chain of painful and destructive reactions.

When someone kills a man, he makes a woman a widow, turns a child into an orphan, renders a mother childless. When this happens, all the people who depend on those they killed are rendered helpless, hopeless and miserable.

God is saying, “Your sin was murder, but your iniquity is the multiplied pain you have caused, the psychological trauma you have given to people, and the pains and damages that people have suffered because of your wickedness.” These are the ravages of sin.

You must understand that every sin committed has disastrous consequences. Sin is a chain reaction that leads to iniquitous outcomes, ravages and damages.

Never forget this: Every sin committed has disastrous consequences.

REFLECTION:

Are you currently suffering from the consequences of sin committed in the past? Make demands on the Blood of Jesus for forgiveness and cleansing.
Make up your mind and ask God for the grace to live above sin.

PRAYER: Father, I ask that You deliver me from the consequences of my previous misdeeds and misconducts. I receive the grace to live right henceforth, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
