RELATIONAL PROSPERITY

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:

1 Samuel  18:1-4

And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father’s house. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.

MESSAGE:

There is a higher dimension of prosperity that you can unlock simply by creating the right relationships… Relationship is a currency.  Imagine what would have happened to the widow in 2 Kings  4:1

‘’Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen’’.

Though the husband was a debtor, he knew the power of relationships. He made sure he served well, and was also in good working relationship with his leader Elisha… In his absence we saw his wife exchanging the currency her husband left behind {Relationships}.

Fear people who have people, people are your greatest assets in life. There is a great story of how friendship can transcend into the palace experience… The friendship and relationship between David and Jonathan. From our Anchor scripture we saw the beginning of their friendship, and how powerful it grew even to the point of entering a covenant. The resultant positive effect was seen after the death of Jonathan.

Mephibosheth became a beneficiary of this great Relational prosperity through the instrumentality of relationship. His father planted a good seed of relationship and his son became a major beneficiary many years after.

2 Samuel  9:1-8

And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake? And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he. And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet. And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar. Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar. Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant. And David said unto him, Fear not: for I WILL SURELY SHEW THEE KINDNESS FOR JONATHAN THY FATHER’S SAKE, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.

A man that was lame on his legs, was not supposed to appear before the king with his deformity according to their tradition, but was granted audience by the king, was given a permanent portion beside the king’s table because his father understood the currency called Relationship.

Many of us are where we are today because our fathers never built intentional and quality relationships before they departed this world, Please don’t make that mistake for your children.

Proverbs  18:24

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. There are relationships that have grown to becoming family. There are doors that may never open for you until you present this certificate called relationship. It could be either with your former employer, former boss, former neighbor or former somebody, this is why relationships are jewel, preserve and honor it.

Manipulations may take you to the top, but your character will expose you there. Fornication and Adultery, selling your body for promotion may take you to the top, but it takes character to stay at the top. If it was character and godly relationships that took you there, godliness will keep you there. But If it was dubiousness, manipulations and charm that took you there, Moses said in

Numbers  32:23b

…and be sure your sin will find you out.

Are you a young man, value your relationship with your elders, colleagues and everyone around you because there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. OH PRAISE THE LORD.

KEY POINT: Relationship is a Currency… Ponder on this.
