MENTAL PROSPERITY

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:

Mark  5:1-15 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,  And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.  And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

MESSAGE:

Mark  5:15b 

…and had the legion, SITTING, and CLOTHED, and in his RIGHT MIND: 

The difference between a normal person and an abnormal person is in their state of mind. The bible described this man that was healed in vs 15 as sitting, clothed and in his RIGHT MIND. The extent to which a man is stable mentally will determine the extent to which God can use him or her. The bible says in 

Proverbs  4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

I read the story of a man who’s son took out a strand of broom and was writing on the body of his new car, now of course the child may not know the implications of what he was doing at that point in time but when the father saw his new car, and how messy the child had turned it to, he became very angry and then turned around to find anything he could use to discipline the boy, the only thing around at the time was a harmer. The father carried the harmer and held the right hand of the son and kept on hitting it uncontrollably, by the time he could come back to his senses the boy had lost all his five fingers to the father’s anger. They rushed the boy to the hospital but it was already too late. the fingers were gone. When the boy looked at his fingers, he turned and asked the father, “Daddy when will my fingers grow back again”? Out of frustration, the father went home and checked what the boy was writing on the body of the car and behold what the boy wrote on the new car was “I LOVE MY DADDY”. The trauma of the father worsen and the father went inside and hanged himself.  This is what an unhealthy mental health can do to anyone, it covers and beclouds your reasoning ability and also covers the consequences of your actions.

Mental prosperity includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. This is why God is very concerned about the Prosperity of your mental health. Unhealthy mental health is the reason for many suicides, and many unhealthy vices. For example; Why would a father or mother throw their wards into the fire because a pastor told them she’s a witch? why will a parent abandon their children or even starve them to death simply because of a minor offence, Yes this is spiritual but a lot of this scenarios are not unconnected with an unstable mental health. We have mad people that are well dressed in offices, mad people that speaks queen’s english etc.

This was a true life story in Nigeria and this is one amongst many distressing stories in our society. Your mental health is important to God. Your mental health affects how you think, feel and how you act. Proverbs  4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Romans  12:2 

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your MIND, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

God wants us to be transformed in our mind and this transformation will reflect in our decision making process. 

…that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
